Volunteers needed at NSH Symposium Oct 2009

Here's an email we received from NSH-Region 1 Director Angela Fogg:

The S/C is only 2 weeks away. As we finalize arrangements and get ready to head to Birmingham the Convention Committee needs volunteers to help onsite. It’s a great way to get involved in NSH & be a part of NSH’s premier educational event. If you are able to assist in any of the following positions please email the contact person listed so that you can be added to the schedule.

Career Day (earn 2 contact hours)
Contact Person: Stacey Langenburg, stacey.langenberg@comcast.net

Are you looking for a fun way to spend your Monday of the convention? Well how about considering educating 125 High School students on what exactly you do each day? On Monday October 5, 2009 NSH will be hosting its 2009 Career Day from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM.
If you will be in Birmingham and don't already have plans please consider volunteering your time to a great cause. I need volunteers for the AM session (8:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the PM session (12:00 PM to 3:00 PM). Feel free to volunteer for one session or both sessions. We will be demonstrating grossing, embedding, cutting, staining, coverslipping, and allowing the kids to look at their slides under the scope.

I am also assembling an "expert" panel for Q and A session detailing the different areas of histology. If this sounds like something you would love to be a part of email me and let me know when you would be available. I will also be hosting a "quick" training session on Sunday Oct. 4th after the lecture series at 9:45am in the East Ballroom. Thanks and hope you have great convention experience.

Registration Desk (earn 2 contact hours)
Contact Person: Beth Wise, Beth@nsh.org

The NSH registration desk is a great way to see old friends & meet new ones as you greet and check in S/C attendees, speakers and exhibitors. The Convention Committee is looking for volunteers to work on:
Friday, October 2 (10am – 6pm)
Saturday, October 3 (7am – 5pm)
Sunday, October 4 (7am – 5pm)
Monday, October 5 (7am – 5pm)
Tuesday, October 6 (7am – 2pm)

Please email Beth, beth@nsh.org, with the days & times you are available & we will plug you into the schedule.

Workshop AmbassadorsContact Person: Brenda Royce, Brenda@nsh.org

Workshop Ambassadors are essential to the success of our workshops. Ambassadors are responsible for distributing handouts, collecting workshop tickets for contact hours and course evaluations. Ambassadors serve in workshops they are already attending and work as the liaison to the Convention Committee Workroom – ensuring everything goes as planned.
